Call made on the society to reinforce participation in the efforts to eradicate malaria prevalence

At a ceremony conducted on 27 July at the Kutmowlie administrative area in connection with National Malaria Day in which Health Ministry representatives, administrators of Gala-Nefhi sub-zone and residents of the sub-zone participated, a call had been made on the society to step-up participation in the efforts to eradicate malaria prevalence.

Asmara, 27 July 2014- At a ceremony conducted on 27 July at the Kutmowlie administrative area in connection with National Malaria Day in which Health Ministry representatives, administrators of Gala-Nefhi sub-zone and residents of the sub-zone participated, a call had been made on the society to step-up participation in the efforts to eradicate malaria prevalence.

In a speech he conducted, Mr. Mehari Hidad, head of administration and finance in the Health Ministry branch office, said that the National Malaria Day would be observed until 2015 with a theme “More Efforts for Sustainably Control of Malaria Prevalence”, and called on the society to reinforce participation towards that end.

He further indicated that Eritrea is one of the four countries with success story in controlling the malaria prevalence, and that it has been possible to control malaria prevalence by 95% on national level.

Mr. Habte Gebremariam, Administrator of Gala-Nefhi sub-zone, on his part called on the residents to fully understand the danger that the disease could pose on the society and follow the instructions being provided by health professionals.

This year’s National Malaria Day is being observed from 24 to 31 July.
