International Olympic Day Commemorated in Barentu city

Reports indicated that International Olympic Day was commemorated yesterday in Barentu city at national level.

Barentu, 28 July 2014 – Reports indicated that International Olympic Day was commemorated yesterday in Barentu city at national level.

Heads of the National Olympics, members of the Sports Commission and Federations of Gash-Barka region, as well as Olympic Athletes and a number of nationals took part in the commemorative event.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mehari Habtu, Vice President of the National Olympics Committee, said that the objective of the Day is to popularize the significance of international Sports events among members of the public in general and youths in particular.

Olympic athletes Nebiyat Habtemariam and Yared Asmerom, gave briefings focusing on their sports background and experience, and called on the nation’s athletes to register success in International race through demonstrating higher performance and discipline.
