SWP registering commendable outcome in Hagaz town

The Coordinator of the Students Summer Work Program (SWP) in Hagaz town, Mr. Idris Abdu, indicated that the scheme is registering commendable outcome in the locality.

Hagaz, 29 July 2014 – The Coordinator of the Students Summer Work Program (SWP) in Hagaz town, Mr. Idris Abdu, indicated that the scheme is registering commendable outcome in the locality.

He also stated that the participants of the undertaking are carrying out soil and water conservation activities, as well as renovation of dirt road and the planting of trees, among others.

Mr. Tekleab Birhane, Student Supervisor, stated that the program is creating double advantage, that is to say nurturing the culture of work and promoting solidarity among youths, as well as development programs.

Likewise, Mr. Haile Gebremedhin, head of water resource development in the town, pointed out that the students are taking part in the endeavors being exerted with a view to meeting the demand for potable water supply in the town.

Mr. Merhawi Tesfai, in charge of follow-up of the SWP in the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, explained that over 240 students are participating in the scheme, and that over 4,00- cubic meter water catchment walls have been put in place so far, besides about 630 meters-canal of water pipelines.
