Number of beneficiaries of Micro-credit and Saving Program in Anseba region on the rise: Report

The branch office of the Micro-credit and Saving Program in Anseba region stated that the number of beneficiaries witnessed significant growth in the first half of this year.

 

Keren, 7 August 2014 – The branch office of the Micro-credit and Saving Program in Anseba region stated that the number of beneficiaries witnessed significant growth in the first half of this year, and that a credit amounting 28 million Nakfa was extended to a total of 2,824 inhabitants of the region.

Mr. Biniam Yohanes, head of the branch office, indicated that majority of the Program’s beneficiaries comprise farmers, and that 91% of the credited fund has been reimbursed timely. He further disclosed that the Program is working on the basis of a revolving fund of 49 million Nakfa, and thus making significant impact as regards improving the livelihood of communities.

The total number of beneficiaries of the program stands at 11,315, while it has paid an interest of 65,000 Nakfa to 777 of them.
