Eritrean community members in Washington DC and its environs conducted annual festival with patriotic zeal last weekend depicting cultural heritage and national values.

Asmara, 11 August 2014 – Eritrean community members in Washington DC and its environs conducted annual festival with patriotic zeal last weekend depicting cultural heritage and national values.

Cultural activities, sports matches, seminars, cultural shows, pictorial exhibition and other programs were staged in the event that witnessed the participation of thousands of nationals.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Girma Asmerom, the Permanent Eritrean Ambassador to the UN, gave briefings as regards the objective political, economic, diplomatic and social situation in the Homeland and the region vis-à-vis international developments. He also explained the development pace the nation is witnessing thanks to popular participation.

The participants of the festival put forth views regarding a number of issues, and expressed readiness to mount staunch resistance against external conspiracies. They also voiced resolve towards nurturing cultural and national values to the young generation.
