The inhabitants of six Administrative areas in Gogne sub-zone are engaging in soil and water conservation undertakings, as well as reforestation through higher communal participation so as to prevent soil erosion.
Gogne, 19 August 2014 – The inhabitants of six Administrative areas in Gogne sub-zone are engaging in soil and water conservation undertakings, as well as reforestation through higher communal participation so as to prevent soil erosion.
The inhabitants stated that they are working on priority basis to this end, and expressed satisfaction with having taken part in the scheme.
Mr. Michael Mengistu, in charge of follow up of the task stated that communal awareness prevails to this end, and that the community members are carrying out the undertaking with enthusiasm.
Likewise, Mr. Yacob Dawoud, managing director of Maedin administrative Area, and Mr. Natnael Yonatan, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, pointed out that the program is being implemented twice a week, and that over 23 thousand tree seedlings have been planted so far.
