Women’s Center inaugurated in Keren city

A Women’s  Center constructed in Keren city by members of  the National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW) branch in Italy was inaugurated last Monday.

Keren, 21 August 2014 – A Women’s  Center constructed in Keren city by members of  the National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW) branch in Italy was inaugurated last Monday.

Present at the inauguration ceremony were Ms. Leul Gebreab, Chairperson of the NUEW, Ms. Amina Nur-Hussien, Minister of Health, Ms. Saba Hailu and members of the Union’s branch, as well as invited guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Amna Hassen, head of promotion and organization at the NUEW branch in Anseba region, congratulated the NUEW branch’s of Italy upon finalization of the Center. She also indicated that it would make due impact in raising the capacity of the Union members, in addition to voicing appreciation for the active role demonstrated by Debwin Construction Company in the process.

Likewise, Ms. Filipos Gebremeskel, representative of the NUEW branch in Italy, said that the initiative is part of the contribution made by veteran Eritrean mothers in Italy in the days of the armed struggle for independence.

Mr. Ali Mahmud, Administrator of the region, noted the active role Women are playing in the implementation of national development undertakings.

The Chairperson of the NUEW pointed out that the aim of constructing similar centers in different parts of the country is to equip members with the necessary knowledge and knowhow.
