Eritrean National Festival concludes in colorful manner with awarding of prizes to winners

The Eritrean National Festival that was in progress at the Expo grounds from 16 to 23 August under the theme “Culture: Guarantor for Existence and Continuity.” concluded today in colorful manner with the awarding of prizes to regions and individuals that demonstrated success in various competitions.

Asmara, 23 August 2014 – The Eritrean National Festival that was in progress at the Expo grounds from 16 to 23 August under the theme “Culture: Guarantor for Existence and Continuity.” concluded today in colorful manner with the awarding of prizes to regions and individuals that demonstrated success in various competitions.

The ceremony was attended by Ministers, regional Administrators, Senior PFDJ heads, Army commanders and representatives of regions, as well as invited guests. Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Zemede Tekle, Chairman of the National Holidays Coordinating Committee, said that over 50 institutions took part in the Festival, and expressed appreciation for all those who made remarkable input in the realization of the cherished goal.

The musical work by vocalist Thomas Alazar won first prize out of those produced over the past three years, and Anseba region in oral tradition, Northern Red Sea region out of the region camp display, Gash-Barka region in the construction of housing and living style, the Southern region in musical and traditional dancing performances were the recipients of first prize. Moreover, in the sphere of creativity and innovation, as well as modern and traditional sport, painting, sculpture, handicraft and the like, those who demonstrated prominence   received prizes. As regards traditional sports, the Southern region emerged champion.

Mr Aberha Asefa Minster of public works and Miss Askalu Monkoriyous Minster of Turism awarded the respective prizes.

Reports indicated that the presentations over the 9- day event witnessed the familiarization of the work accomplishments of various Ministries, especially the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Fisheries, as well as the Ministry of Communication and Transport in particular. Furthermore, presentations highlighting the prevailing spirit of unity and cooperation among the Eritrean people at home and abroad, coupled with their strong resistance against external conspiracies featured prominently in the course of the National Festival at Expo grounds.
