Barentu, 06 September 2014 – seminars are being conducted by the Health Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region with a view to raising community awareness as regards prevention of communicable diseases.

The seminars are aimed at raising the awareness of communities on ways and means of preventing and controlling communicable diseases in general and that of seasonal diseases, including malaria and other infectious diseases in particular, besides the Ebola disease that affect people at regional and international level.

Mr. Abdu Yacob and Mr. Sultan Hagos from the Health Ministry’s branch underlined the need to exert stepped-up efforts so as combating the diastases through conducting community-based sensitization campaigns.

Mr. Haile Abraham, head of Shambuko Health Centre, and Mr. Gide Estifanos, Administrator of Laeilai-Gash sub-zone, called for stepped-up efforts towards controlling such diseases, especially malaria, in addition to increased promotional activities targeting Ebola.
