Over 80% of Eritrea’s population attains literacy through Adult Education Program: Report

Mr. Tikabo Aymut, head of programming and curriculum development in Adult Education Program, said that over 80% of citizens who were admitted to adult education program have managed to read and write.

Asmara, 09 September 2014 – Mr. Tikabo Aymut, head of programming and curriculum development in Adult Education Program, said that over 80% of citizens who were admitted to adult education program have managed to read and write.

Accordingly, commendable efforts have been exerted in collaboration with stakeholders to this end since the year 2000, and that a number of males participated in the program, thus witnessing significant growth comparing to previous years.

In this connection, over 20 thousand nationals leading a nomadic pattern of living, 45% of whom are females, have presently managed to overcome illiteracy.
