Gash-Barka region: Crop plantation in good condition

Mr. Abubeker Osman, head of Agronomy in the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region, said that crop plantation in the region is in good condition thanks to this year’s promising rainfall.

Barentu, 12 September 2014 – Mr. Abubeker Osman, head of Agronomy in the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region, said that crop plantation in the region is in good condition thanks to this year’s promising rainfall.

He went on to indicate that a total of 220 thousand hectares have been put under cultivation out of the 240 thousand hectares through traditional and modern methods of farming, and that the majority of farmlands in the area are heading towards harvest.

Mr. Abubeker also underlined the need for exerting the necessary follow-up.

The farmers on their part expressed satisfaction with the agricultural consultation and the materials being provided to them.
