Barentu, 21 September 2014 – Farmers in Mensura and Akordet sub-zones explained that thanks to the good preparations they made and the good distribution of rainfall their crops are in good condition, and that they are working hard to boost their agricultural production.
The farmers in Mensura sub-zone stated that they have been conducting popular campaigns to collect every drop of water through constructing water diversion and water catchment schemes, and that their crops are in good condition and expecting to collect abundant harvest.
Mr. Woldeyesus Gebrai, Head of Agriculture Ministry in the sub-zone, said that crops in the sub-zone are in conditions, and called on the farmers to immediately inform in case of prevalence of pests.
Likewise, farmers in Akordat sub-zone explained that crops as well as grass for animals are in good condition, and that the micro dams in the area have collected enough water. They also expressed that they would vigilantly work until they collect their crops.
