Call made for enhancing sports activities in Sothern region

The Sports Commission office in the Southern region has called for increased efforts to promote sports activities in the region. It made the call at a recent assessment meeting in Mendefera city.

Asmara, 22 September 2014 – The Sports Commission office in the Southern region has called for increased efforts to promote sports activities in the region. It made the call at a recent assessment meeting in Mendefera city.

Mr. Negasi Tesfagabir, head of the branch office, stated that accomplishments over the past nine months involved competition among junior athletes and mountain bike competitions, among others.

Mr. Franco Kubaba, head of social service in the region, stressed the need for stepped-up endeavors to maintain the achievement registered in the Southern region as regards nurturing competent sportspersons.

Meanwhile, a training program is underway for athletics couches from all the sub-zones of region.
