Call made for reinforcing participation to develop blood transfusion centers

At an occasion the members of the Central region donated blood on 24 September, Mr. Kaleab Tesfaselasie, Head of social services in the region, explained that the blood donors association is not profit making association, and called on members of the region to work towards the success of the objective of the association.

Asmara, 28 September 2014- At an occasion the members of the Central region donated blood on 24 September, Mr. Kaleab Tesfaselasie, Head of social services in the region, explained that the blood donors association is not profit making association, and called on members of the region to work towards the success of the objective of the association.

Mr. Haile Kifleiesus, member of the blood donors association, indicated that the association has been established in 2006 with small capacity, and that in 2012/2013 the it has been upgraded to a national level. He also said that the Anseba and Southern regions have established their associations and are contributing their part in donating blood.

Ms. Lewam Michael, assistant nurse at the National Blood Transfusion Center, explained that donating blood has significant contribution in saving lives, and commended the participation of the members of the Central region for the initiative they took to donate blood.

The donors on their part said that they have donated blood to save lives with renewable blood, and that each of them are donating from two to nine times.
