The Eritrean Foreign Minister, Mr. Osman Saleh, , yesterday met and held talks with the UN Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki Moon, at UN headquarters in New York.
Asmara, 30 September 2014 – The Eritrean Foreign Minister, Mr. Osman Saleh, , yesterday met and held talks with the UN Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki Moon, at UN headquarters in New York.
During the meeting, Mr. Osman underlined the growing partnership between Eritrea and the United Nations, and asserted Eritrea’s readiness to further strengthen and broaden its cooperation of partnership with the UN in all areas of common interest.
Moreover, the Foreign Minister outlined Eritrea’s concern regarding the spread of conflicts, terrorism and extremism in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea. He reassured the Secretary General that Eritrea would continue to work with the United Nations and others to address the issues of regional peace and stability in the Horn region.
Commending Eritrea’s role as regards the prevalence of peace and security, Mr. Ban Ki Moon extended an invitation to President Isaias to take part in the 70th Session of the General Assembly in September 2015, when the 70th anniversary of the United Nations would be celebrated and the Post-2015 development agenda launched.
