Asmara, 5 October 2014- At a meeting he conducted on 3 October with residents and administrators of the administrative areas of Emboito, Kodad, Adi-Kesshi, Adi-Keih, Adi-Tsenaf, and Lamza, Gala-Nefhi sub-zone, Maj.Gen. Romodan Aweliai, Administrator of the Central region, called for judicious use of water and ensure its sustainability.
He further reminded farmers to use the dams for fish and vegetable farming, and that the regional administration would give priority for providing potable water supply to the rest administrative areas in the sub-zone.
Mr. Habte Gebremariam, Administrator of the sub-zone, indicated that crops are in good condition and ripe for harvest, and that the dams in the sub-zone have collected enough water and 800 thousand tree seedlings have been planted in 31 administrative areas.
Ms. Abrahatsion Feshaie, and Mr. Abdulkerim Abdu-Semed , Administrator and work manager of the Lamza administrative area respectively, on their part explained that the Gala dam has collected enough water for irrigation farming, and that the vegetables cultivated on 20 hectares in Lamza and 12 hectares in Adi-Hakefa are in good condition.
