Gash-Barka region: Eye treatment medics campaign conducted

Mr. Alem Zekarias, head of National Blindness Prevention and Control in Gash-Barka region, indicated that  eye treatment  medics campaign has been conducted in Barentu Regional Referral Hospital to nationals suffering from eye diseases from all sub-zones in the region.

Barentu, 06 October 2014 – Mr. Alem Zekarias, head of National Blindness Prevention and Control in Gash-Barka region, indicated that  eye treatment  medics campaign has been conducted in Barentu Regional Referral Hospital to nationals suffering from eye diseases from all sub-zones in the region.

He also stated that the campaign involves various medical treatments including eye surgery, and that professionals from Asmara and members of the Barentu Referral Hospital carried out the task.

The head of the Health Ministry’s branch in the region, Dr. Lelu Banteyirga, pointed that over 5, 00 patients received eye surgery and more than 1,000 others obtained medical treatment.
