Northern Red Sea region: Exerting stepped-up efforts towards promotional activities as regards avoiding harmful customary practices stressed
Ms. Mesuda Humed, head of the NUEW branch in the Northern Red Sea region, stated that exerting stepped-up effort is a prerequisite as regards higher promotional activities to raise women’s awareness pertaining to doing away with harmful customary.
Ginda, 07 October 2014 – Ms. Mesuda Humed, head of the NUEW branch in the Northern Red Sea region, stated that exerting stepped-up effort is a prerequisite as regards higher promotional activities to raise women’s awareness pertaining to doing away with harmful customary. She made the remarks at a seminar conducted in Ginda town concerning the issue, during which Ms. Mes’uda pointed out that promotional activities are being conducted with a view to doing away with harmful customary practices.
Also speaking at the seminar, Ms. Jim’a Raki, head of social service at the NUEW branch in the region, noted the active role women played in the days of the armed struggle for independence and the nation-building process. She further called for higher community awareness in general and that of females in particular concerning the dire consequences of such practices.
The participants of the seminar said that community awareness is on the rise thanks to the promotional activities conducted to this end, and expressed readiness to sustain input in this regard.
According to reports, such seminar would be conducted in all parts of the region.
