Gash-Barka region: Reinforcing active community role described prerequisite in malaria control

Medical doctors serving in Tesenei, Agordat and Barentu hospitals said that reinforcing active community role is a prerequisite in reducing malaria infection.

Barentu, 14 October 2014 – Medical doctors serving in Tesenei, Agordat and Barentu hospitals said that reinforcing active community role is a prerequisite in reducing malaria infection. They made the remarks at workshop conducted to this end.

The doctors stated that community participation, promotional activities and collaboration of the health institutions, as well as local Administrators have significant contribution towards controlling the disease.

Dr. Leul Banteyirga, head of the Health Ministry’s branch in the region, pointed out that commendable outcome could be registered thereof thanks to the joint efforts exerted by the community members and health institutions.
