Persistent endeavors are being exerted with a view to strengthening community-based sports activities in the Central region. The remark was made during the inauguration of Mereb-Setit Athletics Training Centre.

Asmara, 23 October 2014 – Persistent endeavors are being exerted with a view to strengthening community-based sports activities in the Central region. The remark was made during the inauguration of Mereb-Setit Athletics Training Centre.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kaleab Tesfaselasie, director general of social service in the region, said that organizing, strengthening and enhancing sports activities should not be left only to the Government, and called on citizens to exert the necessary input to this end.

In the same vein, Mr. Indrias Asmerom, sports commissioner in the region, expressed conviction that the centre would make significant contribution towards the strengthening of sports activities in the region, and voiced the readiness of the Central region’s Administration to collaboration in all the work of the centre.

Mr.Tewoldebirhan Tesfagabir, owner of the centre, made note of the vital importance of the community-based sports activities towards nurturing competent sportspersons.
