Mendefera, 30 October 2014 – Mr. Afwerki Russom, in charge of water projects follow-up in the Southern region, pointed out that potable water supply projects are under construction at an expenditure of over 11-million Nakfa in different parts of the region.
Accordingly, the projects are underway in the villages of Fikiya-cheqemte, Tafanifas, Adi Arkai, Zban Ona, Damba, Embaqaqat, Koatit and Mendefera involving the putting in place water wells, reserves and hand pumps.
Mr. Afwerki also stated that active communal participation is witnessed in the undertakings, and that 8 out of the water projects would function with solar energy and electricity. He further explained that about 18 thousand inhabitants of the areas cited would become beneficiaries of the required facilities upon completion of the project.
Moreover, around 25 wells in Senafe, Adi-Quala, Adi-Keih, Dubarwa, Mendefera, Dekemhare and Areza are undergoing renovation at a total expenditure of 2.8 million Nakfa, he added.
