Sports activities in Keren attests to endeavors being exerted towards promoting community-based sports

Mr. Fisehaye Tewolde, head of sports and culture in Keren, said that the annual sports activities conducted in the city attests to the endeavors being made to promote community-based sports and enhanced public awareness to this end.

Keren, 26 November 2014 – Mr. Fisehaye Tewolde, head of sports and culture in Keren, said that the annual sports activities conducted in the city attests to the endeavors being made to promote community-based sports and enhanced public awareness to this end.

He went on to state that the inhabitants of Anseba region in general have played active role towards reinforcing sports activities in the region through contributing more than 1.7 million Nakfa, and that at present there exist six Federations in the city.

Mr. Fisehaye further indicated that stepped-up efforts are being exerted with a view to reinforcing sport which has not yet obtained the necessary infrastructure and the launching of grassroots activities. However, the significance of community-based sports is on the rise, and to this end the administrative areas are actively taking part in such activities, he added.
