Ministry of Education conducts assessment meeting regarding SWP

The Ministry of Education today conducted an assessment meeting at Embasoira Hotel here in the capital regarding the Students Summer Work Program (SWP) for the year 2014.

Asmara, 28 November 2014 – The Ministry of Education today conducted an assessment meeting at Embasoira Hotel here in the capital regarding the Students Summer Work Program (SWP) for the year 2014.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Semere Russom, Minister of Education, noted that the program has now been expanded to cover wide ranging activities. He further called for efforts to reinforce the work program of the venture.

Mr. Fitwi Woldegergis, in charge of student development undertakings at the Education Ministry, on his part explained that over 27 thousand of secondary schools students have been participating in the scheme in 44 sub-zones across the country.  Their activities evolved soil and water conservation, taking care of planted trees, environmental hygiene, school repair and extending labor support to martyrs families, among others.

The SWP got underway in 1994, and so far 18 rounds have taken place.
