International Children’s Day marked here

International Children’s Day was today marked here in the capital at national level with various performances highlighting the Day.

Asmara, 06 December 2014 –International Children’s Day was today marked here in the capital at national level with various performances highlighting the Day.

Speaking on the occasion, in which Government and PFDJ officials, as well as heads of national Associations, representatives of international organizations and parents participated, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, Minister of Labor and Human Welfares, explained that the Eritrean society attaches due significance to the task of children’s care, and stressed the need to keep intact such worthwhile tradition.

Similarly, Dr. Suleiman Braimoh, UNICEF Representative in Eritrea, commended the Eritrean government’s upholding of children’s rights, and that UNICEF is working together with the Eritrean government towards promoting children’s wellbeing.

International Children’s Day on December 8 was marked for the 23rd time in Eritrea and for the 56th at global level.
