Barentu, 7 December 2014- At a meeting the members of Bidiho National Association in Gash Barka region conducted, they expressed that the low prevalence of HIV/AIDS is an indication of the growing awareness of the public.
At the occasion in which religious leaders and other stakeholders took part, Mr. Seifu Mehari, Chairman of the association in Gash Barka region, explained that thanks to the growing awareness of the public on the disease discrimination on the victims is reducing, and that they would increase participation in the efforts to eliminate the disease.
Mr. Gebrehiwot Girmai, Chairman of the Bidho National Association, on his part explained that instances of HIV/AIDS have shown visible decline thanks to the joint endeavors exerted by the Ministry and partners, as well as the general public. He further stressed the need for sustaining the achievement registered to this end.
The participants on their part stressed that taking care of the victims would have significant effect in reducing the prevalence of the disease, and called for joint efforts to avoid discrimination on the victims of the disease.
