Newly built dams in Rora administrative area contributing in agricultural development

Residents of the Rora administrative area, Nakfa sub-zone, told Erina that the newly built dams in their area are contributing in the agricultural development, and that they are engaged in vegetable cultivation.

Massawa, 14 December 2014- Residents of the Rora administrative area, Nakfa sub-zone, told Erina that the newly built dams in their area are contributing in the agricultural development, and that they are engaged in vegetable cultivation.

They further indicated that previously due to lack water they have never been able to conduct vegetable cultivation, and that with newly built dams they have been motivated to conduct such agricultural activities and play their part in supplying the local market.

From the residents, Mr. Saleh Osman, said that with the water availability in their area and the conducive climate they will be able to raise their agricultural produce and play due role in the efforts to ensure food security.

Mr. Mohammed-Omar Idris on his part explained that families in the area are engaged in vegetable cultivation to improve their livelihood, and that they are expecting abundant produce.
