The Health Ministry’s branch in Hagaz sub-zone indicated that encouraging outcome has been registered as regards promoting community health.
Hagaz, 17 December 2014 – The Health Ministry’s branch in Hagaz sub-zone indicated that encouraging outcome has been registered as regards promoting community health. It made the disclosure at an annual assessment meeting conducted recently.
Mr. Gebremeskel Gebrehiwet, head of the branch office, said that significant achievements could be registered in the prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases thanks to joint efforts exerted by health personnel, as well as village health workers.
Accordingly, over 1,500 mothers have delivered in health institutions and 36 villages have resorted to soak-pit latrines on the basis of community hygiene campaign.
Ms. Amna Haj, Administrator of the sub-zone, also commended the active participation of local administrators and village health workers, and called on the local inhabitants to emulate the community-based environmental hygiene campaigns.
In closing remarks, Dr. Solomon Birhane, head of the Health Ministry’s branch in Anseba region, pointed out that satisfactory health activities have been undertaken in the sub-zone this year.
