NUEW branch in Southern region asserts readiness to exert effort towards improving women’s livelihood

The National Union of Eritrean Women’s branch in the Southern region, has asserted readiness to exert more effort towards improving the livelihood of members.

Mendefera, 31 December 2014 – The National Union of Eritrean Women’s branch in the Southern region, has asserted readiness to exert more effort towards improving the livelihood of members.

They made the pledge at an assessment meeting conducted recently.

In a report she presented at the meeting, Ms. Aberash Habtai, head of the branch office, indicated that training course was organized to needy members in Mendefera and Senafe sub-zones as regards weaving and basketry, while a total of 523 members engaged in agricultural activities as a group received 40 water pump motors.

Likewise, Ms. Tirhas Adresom, Micro Credit and savings scheme coordinator at the NUEW branch, stated that over 1.5 million Nakfa credit has been extended to some 800 women in 8 sub-zones of the region.
