Beneficiaries of Micro-Credit and Savings Program in Asmat sub-zone witness improvement in livelihood
The beneficiaries of the Micro-Credit and Savings Program in Asmat sub-zone stated that thanks to the credit opportunity being rendered they managed to lead improved life style on the basis of economic development.
Asmat, 08 January 2015 –The beneficiaries of the Micro-Credit and Savings Program in Asmat sub-zone stated that thanks to the credit opportunity being rendered they managed to lead improved life style on the basis of economic development.
They also pointed out that most of the beneficiaries are registering improved outcome through engaging irrigation farming and the rearing of livestock.
Female beneficiaries said that they are witnessing improvement in their livelihood on the basis of small scale business activities and the like.
Mr. Esayas Gebremeskel, head of the Micro-Credit and Savings Program in the sub-zone, indicated on his part that the program got underway in 2010, and that there exist a total of 150 beneficiaries, 52 of whom are females. He further explained that about 1.6 million Nakfa has so far been distributed to the beneficiaries.
