Haikota, 10 January 2015 – At a meeting in Haikota semi-urban center, it was pointed out that soil and water conservation undertakings in the sub-zone last year, coupled with abundant rainfall in the area, has given impetus to increased output. In the course of the meeting, it was stated that satisfactory outcome could be registered in 2014 as regards ensuring food supply both for humans and livestock, and stressed the need for keeping intact such achievement.
Mr. Aregai Mebrahtu, Managing director of the sub-zone, commended the active participation demonstrated by the community, Army members and civil servants so as to implement development programs. He further called for joint endeavors towards putting in place social service facilities vis-à-vis prudent utilization of the available facilities.
The participants conducted discussion on the reports presented and called for organizing programs that would enhance the awareness of the youth, and thereby demonstrate academic excellence.
In closing remarks, Mr. Osman Mohammed-Ali, Chairman of the Gash-Barka regional Assembly, urged Area and local Administrators, village administrative committees, as well as members of the Assembly to exert stepped-up efforts with a view to promoting community-based living style.
