The funeral service of veteran fighter Brig. General Gebrehiwet Zemichael(Wedi-Liqe) was conducted today at Asmara Patriots Cemetery in the presence of President Isaias Afwerki, senior PFDJ and Government officials, religious leaders and thousands of citizens and Army members.
Asmara, 17 January 2015 – The funeral service of veteran fighter Brig. General Gebrehiwet Zemichael(Wedi-Liqe) was conducted today at Asmara Patriots Cemetery in the presence of President Isaias Afwerki, senior PFDJ and Government officials, religious leaders and thousands of citizens and Army members.
The corpse of the late veteran fighter was accompanied from his residence by a marching band, President Isaias, Ministers and other senior Government and PFDJ officials, and family members to his resting spot. Thereafter, Gen. Filipos Woldeyohannes, Chief of Staff of the Eritrean Armed Forces, read the life history of the late Brig. General Gebrehiwet Zemichael(Wedi-Liqe).
Gen. Filipos pointed out that the late veteran fighter Brig. General Gebrehiwet was not only one of the heroic freedom fighters who represent the entire values of the Eritrean Revolution but also a patriot who dedicated his life to the wellbeing of fellow citizens.
Subsequently, President Isaias laid wreath on the tomb of the late veteran fighter on behalf of the State of Eritrea, Mr. Al-Amin Mohammed Seid, PFDJ Secretary, on behalf of the Front, Gen. Filipos Woldeyohannes, Chief of Staff of the Eritrean Armed Forces, on behalf of the Defense Ministry, and Habte Gebrehiwet, son of the deceased veteran freedom fighter, on behalf of the family of Brig. General Gebrehiwet.
The Government of Eritrea conveyed condolences to the family of the late Brig. General Gebrehiwet Zemichael(Wedi-Liqe).
