Ministry of Health exerting efforts to reinforce provision of services by putting in place required human resources and facilities: Minister Amina Nurhusien
At an assessment meeting conducted on 14-15 January in Mendefera, Ms. Amina Nurhusien, Minister of Health, indicated that the Ministry is exerting efforts to reinforce provision of health services by putting in place the required human resources and facilities.
Asmara, 18 January 2015- At an assessment meeting conducted on 14-15 January in Mendefera, Ms. Amina Nurhusien, Minister of Health, indicated that the Ministry is exerting efforts to reinforce provision of health services by putting in place the required human resources and facilities.
She further stated that thanks to the commitment of the medical personnel and the establishment of health institutions in all parts of the country the mother and child mortality rate and the prevalence of communicable diseases has significantly been reduced.
She also said that human capacity development is the priority effort of the ministry, and training opportunities with certificate, diploma and degree levels are being provided to the staff of the ministry.
Mr. Yemane Haile, Head of MOH branch office in the Southern region, on his part said that with the increase of health facilities in the region coupled with the growing awareness of the public the prevalence of communicable diseases has been reduced and delivery at health institutions and medical check-up pre and post delivery has been growing.
During the occasion several research papers have been presented and extensive discussions have been conducted on the papers presented.
Mr. Efrem Gebrekiristos, Administrator of the region, commended the efforts being conducted by the ministry in cooperation with the administration offices to reduce the prevalence of communicable diseases, and that the regional administration would do its capacity in the efforts to ensure the health of the society.
