Youth Week of Gash Barka and Kassala regions commences with fervor

In accordance with the bilateral agreement reached by the Youth and Students associations of Eritrea and the Sudan aimed at strengthening relations and cooperation the first Youth Week has been commenced on 17 January in Barentu.

 

Barentu, 18 January 2015- In accordance with the bilateral agreement reached by the Youth and Students associations of Eritrea and the Sudan aimed at strengthening relations and cooperation the first Youth Week has been commenced on 17 January in Barentu.

In a speech he delivered at the welcoming ceremony of the youth delegation from Kassala region, Mr. Gidei Sequar, Chairman of the NUEYS Gash Barka region, indicated that the objective of the Youth Week has been to strengthen bilateral relations of the two regions and reinforce cultural, sports, educational and health cooperation of the two sides.

Mr. Omar Mohammed, Managing Director of the Gash Barka region, on his part expressed appreciation for the coming of the Sudanese youth delegation to participate in the Youth Week, and called for the sustainability of the program.

Likewise, Mr. Osman Mohammed Ali, Chairman of the Assembly of the Gash Barka region, and Mr. Melasi Wohaj Melasi, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Kassala region, expressing expectation that the program would be strengthened to a higher level,wished a successful Youth Week.

According to reports, the Youth Week that will be conducted until 19 January will include exhibitions, popular campaigns, cultural shows and sports competitions.
The opening ceremony has been highlighted by the cultural performance of the two regions’ cultural groups.
