The Assembly of the Southern Red Sea region held its 13th regular meeting in the port city of Assab.
Assab, 22 January 2015 – The Assembly of the Southern Red Sea region held its 13th regular meeting in the port city of Assab.
In a report he presented at the meeting, Mr. Nur Ali, Chairman of the Assembly, pointed out that extensive promotional activities were conducted in collaboration with members of the regional Administration. He further expressed the members’ readiness to exert the necessary effort towards the realization of the set goals on the basis of active community participation.
According to reports presented by department heads of the regional administration, development programs implemented in the region have borne encouraging outcome as regards improving community livelihood.
The Assembly members adopted resolutions pertaining to reinforcing youth organization, raising female enrollment in schools, effective utilization of potable water supply facilities and raising community awareness in preservation of heritages, among others.
In closing remarks, Ambassador Mohammed-Seid Mantai, Managing director of the regional Administration, expressed conviction that the Assembly members would make significant contribution with a view to doing away with harmful customary practices and ensure female enrollment, among others.
