The Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Ali Mahmud, has called for exerting persistent effort to expand irrigation farming with a view to ensuring food security and improving community livelihood.
Keren, 24 January 2015 – The Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Ali Mahmud, has called for exerting persistent effort to expand irrigation farming with a view to ensuring food security and improving community livelihood. He made the call at an annual assessment meeting of the regional Administration conducted in Keren city on January 21 and 22.
The regional Administrator called on sub-zonal Administrators to give more attention to the task of promoting irrigation farming along the banks of Anseba River and widen agricultural programs launched in previous years.
According to reports, additional endeavors are needed to expand social service facilities in the sub-zones of Sel’a and Kerkebet. Studies are underway regarding the construction of road and introduce irrigation farming in the two sub-zones.
The participants of the meeting put forth views as regards repair of dirt road along Hamelmalo, Rikeb and Aretai areas, and strengthen medical service in the sub-zones of Asmat, Geleb and Kerkebet.
