The Assembly of the Southern region has conducted its 14th regular meeting in Mendefera city.
Mendefera, 24 January 2015 – The Assembly of the Southern region has conducted its 14th regular meeting in Mendefera city. Speaking at the meeting in which members of the regional Assembly, heads of departments, Administrators of sub-zones and heads of line ministries took part, Mr. Woldai Gebre, Chairman of the Assembly, noted the significance of assessing accomplished programs for more gratifying outcome.
He went on to explain that the Assembly has conducted inspection tour of schools and health institutions in 2014, and that encouraging outcome has been registered in raising agricultural output on the basis of reinforcing soil and water conservation activities. Mr. Woldai also pointed out that members are demonstrating active participation in political activities and follow-up of the implementation of resolutions adopted by the regional Assembly.
The participants heard accomplishment reports by government bodies of the region, and stressed the need for paying due attention as regards prudent utilization of social service facilities being put in place.
Also speaking at the meeting, Mr. Efrem Gebrekirstos, Administrator of the Southern region, underlined the vital role of the Assembly members towards the realization of all-round development goals, and called on them to live up to expectations.
The Assembly adopted resolutions pertaining to reinforcing the capacity of youths, judicious utilization of water supply and organizing promotional activities targeting communicable diseases, among others.
