Additional health institutions to be put in place in Gash-Barka region, Says Health Minister

Ms. Amina Nur-Husein, Minister of Health, said that additional health institutions would be put in place in different Administrative areas of Gash-Barka region in line with the endeavors being made towards the finalization of health institution programs  launched previously.

 

Barentu, 26 January 2015 – Ms. Amina Nur-Husein, Minister of Health, said that additional health institutions would be put in place in different Administrative areas of Gash-Barka region in line with the endeavors being made towards the finalization of health institution programs  launched previously.

The Minister made the remarks at a meeting in Barentu city, during which she gave extensive briefings regarding the accomplishments registered in the region and at national level. Ms. Amina also indicated that persistent endeavors are being exerted with a view to reducing instances of communicable diseases and providing quality service to the public. To this end, remarkable accomplishments have been registered through joint collaboration with partners, she elaborated.

Similarly, Mr. Fisehaye Haile, Administrator of Gash-Barka region, commended the enthusiasm of the health personnel and voiced the regional Administration’s readiness to extend the necessary support so as to realize the set goals.

In the same vein, Dr. Leul Banteyirga, Head of the Health Ministry’s branch in the region, explained that health services were provided by all health institutions in 2014, and that a number of programs were implemented last year as regards eye treatment campaign, launching of regional Blood Bank, exchanging experience among hospitals, providing vaccination service for Rota Virus and organizing various training courses, among others.

In the course of the meeting, accomplishment reports were presented by heads of different departments, and that Administrative areas were called upon to exert stepped-up efforts towards enhancing community contribution in endeavors to promote community health.
