NUEW branch members in Bologna and environs assert readiness to step up participation in national development endeavors
Members of the National Union of Eritrean Women’s branch in the Italian city of Bologna and its environs have asserted readiness to step up participation in national development endeavors.
Asmara, 28 January 2015 – Members of the National Union of Eritrean Women’s branch in the Italian city of Bologna and its environs have asserted readiness to step up participation in national development endeavors. They made the pledge in connection with the 35th founding anniversary of the NUEW.
According to reports, nationals from a number of Italian cities took part in the event. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Zaid Gebremariam, Chairperson of the branch office, gave extensive briefings to the participants regarding the pivotal role Eritrean women played in the armed struggle for independence and safeguarding the nation’s dignity, in addition to the nation-building process.
Likewise, Mr. Yemane Habtemariam, Chairman of the Eritrean community in the city, Mr. Russom Gebregergis, the Eritrean Consul in Milan, and Mr. Girmai Habtemichael, in charge of public and communal affairs in the Eritrean Embassy in Italy, commended the vital role and heroic feats of Eritrean women under the umbrella of the NUEW and the veteran mothers in Italy. They further called on the members to exert more efforts towards nurturing youth members.
