Set development programs implemented thanks to active public participation: Minister

Mr. Woldenkiel Abraha, Minister of Local Government, said that development programs set for implementation in 2014 have been implemented effectively thanks to active public participation and effective administrative system.

Asmara, 31 January 2015 – Mr. Woldenkiel Abraha, Minister of Local Government, said that development programs set for implementation in 2014 have been implemented effectively thanks to active public participation and effective administrative system. He made the remarks at an assessment meeting of the six Administrative regions conducted on January 30 and 31 in the Central region Administration Hall.

The Minister also stated that the Administrative regions conducive ground for unified national vision; preserving the nation’s values and the task of ensuring social justice. He went on to note that the Ministry gave priority attention last year as regards organizing a new structure of Administrative regions and formulating work guidelines, as well as the placement of heads.

According to reports presented on the occasion, bumper harvest was obtained across the country thanks to last year’s abundant rains, coupled with soil and conservation activities undertaken by farmers. To this end, the experience gained thereof would give impetus for more gratifying outcome.

Mr. Woldenkiel also gave directives to all bodies of the Ministry so as to raise agricultural output and government revenue, as well as Administrative regions, among others.

The participants of the meeting put forth views on a number of issues pertaining to the reinforcement of follow-up tasks.
