Assab, 09 February 2015 – The Health Ministry’s branch in the Sothern Red Sea region indicated that active community and partners participation was witnessed in 2014 towards the realization of set goals. The statement was made at an assessment meeting of the branch office, during which report accomplishments of the sub-zone’s branch health institutions were presented. Moreover, vaccination campaign was conducted through active participation of the regional Administration and partners.
Promotional activities conducted for the public and partners as regards effective utilization of medicine, doing away instances of harmful customary practices, prenatal and antenatal care, as well as communicable and non-communicable diseases, were reported to have registered encouraging outcome.
Mr. Tesfatsion Girmai, Director General in charge of administration and finance at the regional Administration, called for organizing training courses for Area administrators so as to raise their capacity regarding on health issues.
In closing remarks, Ms. Amina Nur-Husein, Minister of Health, explained that there are plans to equip health institutions in the region with solar energy, broadening Rahaita, Alale and Tio Health Stations, in addition to the putting in place of waiting room for pregnant mothers in Wade area, among others.
