Silver Jubilee of Operation Fenkil being commemorated in various countries by Eritrean citizens

Eritrean nationals residing in the cities of London, Milan and Amsterdam have commemorated the Silver Jubilee of Operation Fenkil in colorful manner.

Asmara, 11 February 2015 –Eritrean nationals residing in the cities of London, Milan and Amsterdam have commemorated the Silver Jubilee of Operation Fenkil in colorful manner.

During the observances in London city, Mr. Estifanos Habtemariam, the Eritrean Ambassador to the UK and Ireland, underscored the great significance of the Operation in nation’s liberation. In a similar event at Milan city, Mr. Russom Woldegergis, Eritrean Consul in Italy, indicated that Operation Fenkil marks a turning point in the armed struggle for independence, and that it is an occasion when nationals everywhere should reiterate readiness to step up participation in the nation-building process, in addition to mounting continued staunch resistance against external conspiracies.

Meanwhile, the Eritrean community members in Amsterdam commemorated the historic event with different performances, during which Mr. Solomon Mehari, Charge d’Affaires in the Eritrean Embassy in the Netherlands, explained that the Operation marked a higher phase in the armed struggle for independence. Moreover, he stressed the need for upholding national values relating the building of a prosperous country.

According to reports, the commemorative events witnessed the staging of cultural and other performances.
