A book titled “Fenkil” inaugurated

A book in Tigrigna titled “Fenkil” which narrates the historic Operation of Fenkil and battle fields of Ginda front,  was yesterday inaugurated at Red Sea Hotel in Massawa in connection with the Silver Jubilee of Operation Fenkil.

Massawa, 14 February 2015 – A book in Tigrigna titled “Fenkil” which narrates the historic Operation of Fenkil and battle fields of Ginda front,  was yesterday inaugurated at Red Sea Hotel in Massawa in connection with the Silver Jubilee of Operation Fenkil.

The 479-page book that has been jointly prepared by the Cultural Affairs of the PFDJ, the Northern Red Sea regional Administration and the Hidri publishers comprises 37 short stories   and involved a total of 25 writers.

Among the participants who presented review of the book noted its vitality towards bequeathing the heroic feats demonstrated during the armed struggle for independence to the youth and furthering the documentation of the Eritrean history. They further called for pertinent bodies to exert the required efforts in this regard.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the staging of cultural performances depicting the momentous day of Operation Fenkil.
Meanwhile, a 3-stage Camel races competition was opened by Ambassador Zemede Tekle, Sports and Culture Commissioner.
