Assembly of Gash-Barka region holds 14th meeting

The Assembly of Gash-Barka region has held its 14th regular meeting in which Administrator of the region, department heads, sub-zonal Administrators, line ministries and national associations took part.

Barentu, 14 February 2015 – The Assembly of Gash-Barka region has held its 14th regular meeting in which Administrator of the region, department heads, sub-zonal Administrators, line ministries and national associations took part.

Mr. Osman Mohammed-Ali, Chairman of the Assembly, called on the members to play active role towards raising active public participation in development endeavors through enhanced organization and awareness.

He also stated that the Assembly has been exerting persistent endeavors pertaining to sustaining follow up of programs set for implementation and reinforcing organizational capacity of the public in development undertakings, among others.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Administrator of Gash-Barka, Mr. Fisheye   Haile, explained that increasing revenue of the Administration, finalizing development projects got underway in 2014 and construction of new schools are some of the major programs set for implantation this year. He also noted the significance of objective reports of the Assembly members towards the realization of cherished development goals, and called on them to step up participation as regards ensuring equitable distribution of social service facilities.

The Assembly members adopted resolutions in a number of issues regarding enhancing public campaigns, raising   female students’ enrollment and exerting effort to promote environmental hygiene.
