At a meeting conducted in Dubarwa sub-zone a call has been made for exerting joint efforts on the part of health personnel and local Administrations so as to control eye disease in general and that of Trachoma in particular resulting from lack of sanitation.
Dubarwa, 21 February 2015 – At a meeting conducted in Dubarwa sub-zone a call has been made for exerting joint efforts on the part of health personnel and local Administrations so as to control eye disease in general and that of Trachoma in particular resulting from lack sanitation.
In the course of the meeting in which representatives of health workers from the Administrative areas of the sub-zone took part, Mr. Gebreselasie Gebremariam from the Health Ministry’s branch in the Sothern region, called on the community members to practice proper preventive medications and promotional activities against such diseases.
Mr. Yemane Haile, head of the Health Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, pointed out that community awareness as regards controlling and treatment of Trachoma is on the rise thanks to the promotional activities and effective health services. He further called on the local inhabitants to resort to proper care so as to combat blindness.
In the same vein, Dr. Andeberhan Tesfatsion, Director General of public health at the Ministry of Health, briefed the participants focusing on preventive methods of the disease.
