Training provided in Adi-Quala on doing away harmful practices

A training program in which youth and parents participated had been organized in Adi-Quala sub-zone aimed at raising the awareness of the public on the negative consequence of underage marriages.

Mendefera, 22 February 2015- A training program in which youth and parents participated had been organized in Adi-Quala sub-zone aimed at raising the awareness of the public on the negative consequence of underage marriages.

Sister Beletesh Gebreab, Coordinator of information agitation at the Health Ministry branch in the region, indicated that the training program has been focused on mother and child health care as well as on the behavior and physical change during adulthood and measures that should be taken.

She further called on parents to make follow-up on their children during their adulthood and encourage them to openly discuss with their peer groups, teachers and parents, and that a youth who grew up in such a manner is likely to become healthy both physically and mentally.

Sister Beletesh also explained on the importance of conducting regular follow up during pre and post pregnancy, and called on the community to reinforce role in ensuring mother and child health.

The participants on their part expressed that the training would help them raise their awareness, and called for its sustainability.
