Taff crop in Haikota sub-zone stated in good condition

Farmers in Haikota sub-zone stated that the Taff crop in the sub-zone is in good condition and nearing harvest.

Haikota, 23 February 2015 – Farmers in Haikota sub-zone stated that the Taff crop in the sub-zone is in good condition and nearing harvest.

They also indicated that it was believed that Taff is a highland crop and could not be cultivated in their area, and that currently the farmers are expecting bumper harvest.

Mr. Semere Kifleyesus, Managing Director of Gash-Setit Agriculture Association, explained that the crop has been cultivated at over 130 hectares of land by the association members. He also pointed out that Taff could grow in the sub-zone and other parts of the region.

Likewise, Mr. Berhane Asmelash, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, said that farmers are exerting stepped-up efforts in the cultivation of the crop.
