Fruits and Vegetable farmers in Geleb sub-zone called upon to strive to boost production

The Administrator of the Anseba region, Mr. Ali Mahmud, has called on fruits and vegetable farmers in Geleb sub-zone to exert more efforts to boost production properly exploiting underground water resource in the area, and thereby play their part in the efforts to ensure food security.

Geleb, 25 February 2015 – The Administrator of the Anseba region, Mr. Ali Mahmud, has called on fruits and vegetable farmers in Geleb sub-zone to exert more efforts to boost production properly exploiting underground water resource in the area, and thereby play their part in the efforts to ensure food security. He made the call following a tour of inspection to agricultural activities being conducted in the sub-zone, during which the Administrator stated that increasing productivity is a major plan of the regional Administration, and called on farmers in the locality to emulate the exemplary irrigation farming being carried out by fellow farmers.

Mr. Ali also called for taking the necessary land control measurements vis-à-vis proper utilization of the available resources.

Similarly, Mr. Mohammed Osman Fruj, Administrator of the sub-zone, pointed out that micro-dams are under construction in Aybab and Geleb-Gedim areas, and that Gerbet and Balkat micro-dams are also making significant contribution in enriching underground water in the locality for irrigation farming.
