Mai-Mine sub-zone: effective soil and water conservation activities accomplished

At a recent assessment meeting in which heads of line ministries, area Administrations and representative of the public took part, it was stated that effective soil and water conservation activities were carried out in Mai-Mine sub-zone in 2014.

Mai-Mine, 26 February 2015 – At a recent assessment meeting in which heads of line ministries, area Administrations and representative of the public took part, it was stated that effective soil and water conservation activities were carried out in Mai-Mine sub-zone in 2014.  The meeting was aimed at assessing last year’s activities and mapping out future action plan.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kidane Fruy, Managing Director of the sub-zonal administration, indicated that commendable outcome has been registered in soil and water conservation undertakings through active popular participation, civil servants and members of the People’s Army, apart from extensive promotional activities against underage marriages.

Different line ministries in the sub-zone also presented accomplishment reports.

Likewise, Mr. Frewngel Teklehaimanot, Administrator of the sub-zone, on his part noted the dire consequences of underage marriages and called on the participant to raise their awareness in this regard.

The participants of the meeting put forth views pertaining to a number of issues, including the need for proper utilization of land resources, among others.
