The inhabitants of Adi-Qush village, Hamelmalo sub-zone, expressed readiness to enhance role in endeavors towards the realization of health goals through promoting environmental hygiene.
Hamelmalo, 27 February 2015 – The inhabitants of Adi-Qush village, Hamelmalo sub-zone, expressed readiness to enhance role in endeavors towards the realization of health goals through promoting environmental hygiene.
They also stated that community awareness is on the rise thanks to the extensive promotional activities conducted on health issues, and that sensitization campaign carried out previously has borne encouraging outcome. The village inhabitants further noted the significance of proper utilization of soak-pit-latrines as regards promoting public health.
Mr. Berhane Gebrekidan, head of environmental hygiene in the Health Ministry’s in Anseba region, explained that the Ministry is working jointly with partners so as to promote community health; as a result about 108 villages of the sub-zone have become beneficiaries of soak-pit-latrines.
Mihreteab Gebrehiwet, head of the MOH in the sub-zone, indicated that the objective of community-based environmental hygiene is to combat diseases resulting from lack of sanitation.
In the same vein, Mr. Yacob Idris, Administrator of the sub-zone, expressed appreciation for the active participation demonstrated by residents of Genfelom Administrative area in general and that of Adi-Qush in particular pertaining to the construction of soak-pit-latrines.
