At a seminar he conducted for Area Administrators and volunteers of village health workers in Areza sub-zone, Mr. Yemane Haile, head of the Health Ministry’s branch in the Southern region, called for carrying out extensive environmental hygiene campaign with a view to combating diseases resulting from lack of sanitation.
Areza, 28 February 2015 – At a seminar he conducted for Area Administrators and volunteers of village health workers in Areza sub-zone, Mr. Yemane Haile, head of the Health Ministry’s branch in the Southern region, called for carrying out extensive environmental hygiene campaign with a view to combating diseases resulting from lack of sanitation. He also called for proper utilization of the necessary medicaments.
Likewise, Mr. Alem Zekarias, head of National Blindness Prevention and Control, on his part gave briefings as regards ways and means of controlling and prevention of Trachoma disease, and that a campaign is underway to combat the instances of the disease through active popular participation.
In closing remarks, Dr. Andeberhan Tesfatsion, Director General of Public Health at the MOH, pointed out that the Ministry is exerting endeavors to combat the disease through making available the necessary skilled human resources and medicaments. He further expressed appreciation for active cooperation of Area Administrations with health institutions.
